CHANGING WEATHER NEWS

The transitions between seasons, their basic character, their timing, temp, and humidity transitions have all changed. The directions from which the seasonal winds blow have changed. These changes are reverberating through and disrupting webs of life that wrap around the whole planet.

Sierra forests turned to brown,
Calmatters, July 29, 2016

And, they are going to burn, then be replaced by drier, more drought tolerant species. We are seeing a rapid succession brought about by our changes to the seasons.

I just drove up the West Flank of the Sierra on Highway 108 to Sonora Pass in late July. Huge swaths of low and high elevation forest were dead.  They ARE going to burn.

The dimensions of the rust colored trees in the forests below 8000 feet is dramatic. The silver color of the dead trees in the forests above 8000 feet of elevation is more subtle, yet only partially hides the fact that the percentage of tree death above 8000 feet is as dramatic, if not as obvious as the lower elevation devastation.

A vast transiton is underway, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Hell, we are not even stopping the corrupt policies and behaviors that brought these devastating changes into being.
