Planning your Five Day Backpacking Menu

Before we can effectively plan and use our resupply points on the long trails between Lake Tahoe and Mount Whitney, we must understand our route, our daily mileage along that route, our daily calorie intake, as well as how much gear the weather and climate conditions will require us carry.

Before considering resupply, we will do some fundamental research into planning for a High Sierra backpacking trip.

I am considering weather, route, gear, time, and food needs to plan a five day backpacking trip into the High Sierras during "Winter" conditions. Though I am heading out during the Winter, these considerations apply to all backpacking trips, to the degree applicable.
