Meeks Bay to Echo Summit miles and elevations30.71 miles, and a net gain of 1138 feet, Southbound.

This section covers the mileages and elevations of the Tahoe to Yosemite, Tahoe Rim, and Pacific Crest Trails between Meeks Bay and Echo Summit.

The elevation figure given above does not take into account the 2561 and 1430 foot climbs, and the subsequent descents, you make up Phipps Pass and through Dicks Passes, respectively, as you head South to Echo Summit from the Meeks Bay trailhead.

Check out the trail guide's Meeks Bay to Echo Summit mileages and elevations page for detailed point to point elevation change and mileage figures.

If you have any questions or comments, shoot! I'd be happy to discuss the Desolation Wilderness with you, or any of the High Sierra Trails between Lake Tahoe and Mount Whitney.

Check out the discussion about the differences in mileage starting from the different trailheads.

If you want to post pictures and accounts of short or long distance backpacking trips through Desolation,  check out the Meeks Bay to Echo Summit Forums. Here you will find the backpacker (or not!)  comment-contributions section for every section of the trail between Meeks Bay and Echo Summit, as well as links to the specific Meeks Bay to Echo Summit Trail Guide pages.

Support Tahoe to Whitney

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

I NEED HELP!
If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
