Coffee Suppresses Heart Failure and Stroke?

Drinking coffee may be associated with reduced risk of heart failure and stroke,

I love my coffee on the trail. I carried a cloth filter and grounds when I was young, strong, and even stupider than now. Now it's down to super-concentrated "flavor crystals" measured out to precise dosages for each section of trail between resupply points. Coffee is one of my favorite "luxuries." The plan is simple:

Heavy coffee with hot chocolate and heavy cream powder in the morning, straight coffee with lunch, switching to hot chocolate & heavy cream with dinner & as the nightcap.

I love the metabolic boost coffee provides, and I use it as a medium to absorb at least a few hundred calories a day of heavy cream power and hot chocolate. We must consider that our body can start howling for calories when we're doing 15 miles of heavy mountain terrain a day, day after day.

Plus, I like the apparent fact that coffee wards off death, and extends the lives of those who've experienced "less death,"  as the scientists put it.
