FALL CONDITIONS APPROACH

First Snow on Tahoe Rim

Lake Tahoe sees first snowfall of 2017-18 season,
Sierra Sun, September 14, 2017.

I noted "feeling" the changing position of the Sun on August 12, and now we've seen the first snow indicating the seasonal shift to Fall conditions is well underway, despite the record-setting tropical heat.
We've been seeing declining temps at elevation on the Sierra Crest, and seen the tropical push behind our recent Heat Wave and hot, tropical weather weaken a bit, finally letting in these cool breezes from the North, and our first real indication of declining temps beginning the Fall transition into Winter conditions.

I have a feeling the "Indian Summer" may extend right to the doorstep of Winter this year.

Nonetheless, it is time to replace the lightweight Summertime shell with the medium-weight shell of Fall, and consider adding another layer of insulation, or fattening up our existing layers,
