MOUNTAIN SAFETY
Mountain Lion Attack

A Bit West of PCT in North Washington

Mountain lion attack kills 1, injures 1 in Washington state,
LAT, May 19, 2018.

The town of North Bend is about 17 miles (as the Crow flies), West of where the PCT in the Cascades crosses Highway 90 across Snoqualmie Pass.

"One man was killed and another seriously injured when they encountered a cougar Saturday while mountain biking in Washington state."

Hard Times in the Mountains
"More attacks have been reported in the western United States and Canada over the last 20 years than in the previous 80 years."

Bottom Line
Bears, lions, coyotes, and everything else have been experiencing greater, "environmental," stresses and hunger with the warming climate and shrinking Winters. Thus, wild animal behavior has been becoming more unpredictable.
