BPA in 86% of Global Teenagers

Generations Lost to Chemically-Distorted Sexual Development:

Denied Natural Sexuality

Exposure to chemical found in plastics 'hard to avoid' in everyday life,
University of Exeter, February 5, 2018.

The unavoidable conclusion of this research is that very high concentrations of BPA are ubiquitous in the environment globally, and this estrogen-like compound exists in high concentrations in our planet's sexually-developing teenage population.

Gee, guess what that'd do?

LOOK AROUND.

FROM THE RESEARCH

"86 per cent of teenagers have traces of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical compound used to make plastics, in their body."

"Measurable levels of BPA, an endocrine-disrupting chemical, were found in the urine of the vast majority of the 94 17-19 year olds tested."

BPA EXPOSURE UNAVOIDABLE

"They found that chemical is so ubiquitous that trying to reduce exposure by avoiding food packaging and food likely to contain BPA has no measurable impact on exposure."

PERVERTING DEVELOPING KIDS

"Teenagers are thought to be one of the population demographics with the highest levels of exposure."

A GLOBAL SITUATION

"This is similar to population exposure levels in other countries around the world, and reflects the exposure to BPA in the environment."

WHAT is BPA?

"BPA is an industrial chemical which has been used since the 1960s to make certain types of plastic. The chemical can be found in plastic containers and water bottles, till receipts, on the inside of cans and bottle tops and in plastic packaging and tubing. DVDs, CDs and sunglasses can also contain BPA though this is not a major route for exposure through skin."

WHAT BPA DOES

"BPA, a chemical with similarities to oestrogen, can get into the body through our diet. Highly-processed foods, or foods packaged in some plastics, can contain high levels of BPA. It is capable of causing changes to the expression of oestrogen-responsive genes, and the regulation of hormones, previous research by the Exeter team has found."

In other words, it affects sexual development, which affects every aspect of our development as individuals.

Life's Hard Enough
All's I know, as a proud, straight male, is that I'm glad I've not had gender-identity issues to deal with along with all the rest, and I'd be real pissed-off if the trajectory of my sexual development was chemically altered by our society's inability to control its own greed.

Now It's Harder
Statistically, I'd say that a significant percentage of sexual dismorphism we're seeing in society today is a direct bi-product, (pun intended), of the widespread environmental distribution of the endocrine disrupting chemicals released by degrading plastic pollution.
