When will Climate-Changed Weather Dominate?

Depends on Where you Are

When will the US feel the heat of global warming?
For the Great Plains, natural variability will dominate until late this century,
Ars Technica, March 20, 2018.

"... the year in which half of the heat waves wouldn't have qualified as heat waves if it weren't for the influence of climate change."

US West...in 2028

Great Lakes...in 2037

Northern Plains  2056

Southern Plains  2074

"...the West Coast, the two appear to be related. Our warming climate is expected to produce wind patterns that reduce the frequency of storms and thus lower the amount of moisture in the soil. This, in turn, would reduce evaporation, leading to enhanced heat—which may explain why the climate signal appears there earliest."

I'd say the emergence of change-dominated weather actually depends on how the heating progresses in the short-term. We just saw a series of huge, record-setting El Ninos pump a vast amount of heat into the atmosphere. We are seeing a vast "uncorking" of an unknown amount of long "captured" CO2 and Methane, CH4.

The progression of the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere are radically changing, with new mechanisms moving vast amounts of tropical heat into the highest Arctic during the middle of Winter. To me this screams out, "We are on the Verge of Vast Weather Changes and Disruptions."

I expect a whole new weather pattern to fully emerge over the Western US over the next ten years that will be much like the last ten, except warmer and drier.

Support Tahoe to Whitney

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
