Conflicts at the Crack of Spring

As climate is warming up, more bird nests are destroyed in Finnish farmland,
University of Helsinki, January 11, 2018.

"...as a result of shifts in timing of breeding, the incoming mechanical sowing destroys most of the nests that are laid on arable land."

A cursory look through the Tree Section shows the seasonal timing of thaw, Spring budding, fertilization, and dormacy is shifting for all plants around the whole world.

A cursory look through the Bird Section shows their migration, nesting, breeding, and feeding patterns are shifting for all birds around the whole world.

It's our behavior, our wildly rapid irresponsible growth that's triggered and speeding these changes in the character and timing of our seasonal progressions around the whole world. Faster in some places, slower in others, but everything is fundamentally changing.

Watching the birds and plants are an excellent gage of monumental changes in our physical environment and ecology that may be much too subtle, or much too distant, for humans isolated in vast urban islands of asphalt and concrete to experience or perceive.

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

I NEED HELP!
If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
