The Nature of Reality
First, We Did not Know Dark Matter Existed

Now, We are surprised by its Absense

Hubble finds first galaxy in the local universe without dark matter,
ESA/Hubble Information Centre, March 28, 2018.

THE MISSING LINK GALAXY?
"...for the first time, uncovered a galaxy that is missing most -- if not all -- of its dark matter. This discovery of the galaxy NGC 1052-DF2 challenges currently-accepted theories of and galaxy formation and provides new insights into the nature of dark matter."

THE GHOST GALAXY
"This thing is astonishing: a gigantic blob so sparse that you see the galaxies behind it. It is literally a see-through galaxy."

"...to infer an independent value of the galaxies mass. This mass is comparable to the mass of the stars in the galaxy, leading to the conclusion that NGC 1052-DF2 contains at least 400 times less dark matter than astronomers predict for a galaxy of its mass, and possibly none at all."

"This discovery is unpredicted by current theories on the distribution of dark matter and its influence on galaxy formation."

"Dark matter is conventionally believed to be an integral part of all galaxies -- the glue that holds them together and the underlying scaffolding upon which they are built."

"There is no theory that predicts these types of galaxies -- how you actually go about forming one of these things is completely unknown."

Support Tahoe to Whitney

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

I NEED HELP!
If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
