Ecosystem Loss at Rising Sea level

Saying Goodby to the California Coastline

Under projected rates of sea level rise, a bleak future for Pacific coast tidal wetlands,
American Association for the Advancement of Science, February 21, 2018.

"...all high- and mid-marsh habitats are projected to be lost. Only the low marsh habitat is likely to survive..."

"...Devastating loss of coastal wetlands..."

"Most affected are California and Oregon, where 100% of most marsh habitat is lost."

"Even under more conservative SLR scenarios, the authors say, tidal wetland loss is notable, with 60% of mid-marsh habitats and 95% of high marsh habitats gone by the century's end. The results emphasize the high vulnerability of tidal wetlands in this region to sea-level rise."

Let's face it: Everything on the coast is going to drown. Marshes, wetlands, estuaries, the old river mouths, beaches, dunes, cliffs overlooking the ocean, roads, houses, and many, many marinas are all going under, eventually.

The mountains are going dry and the forests are burning.

Our corporate idiots plan on having 9 billion people on this planet by 2050, and one billion "consumers" stuffed into the US by 2100...
