Perfume & Personal Product Pollution Exceeding Auto Pollution

An "Over-Producted" People

Consumer and industrial products now a dominant urban air pollution source,
University of Colorado at Boulder, February 15, 2018.

"...household cleaners, pesticides, paints and perfumes, now rival motor vehicle emissions as the top source of urban air pollution."

"...lotions, paints and other products contribute about as much to air pollution as the transportation sector does."

"...the scientists focused on volatile organic compounds or VOCs. VOCs can waft into the atmosphere and react to produce either ozone or particulate matter--both of which are regulated in the United States and many other countries because of health impacts, including lung damage."

"...making detailed atmospheric chemistry measurements in Los Angeles air..."

"...VOCs emitted by consumer and industrial products is actually two or three times greater than estimated by current air pollution inventories, which also overestimate vehicular sources."

"...volatile chemical products used in common solvents and personal care products are literally designed to evaporate."

"... Lancet last year put air pollution in a top-five list of global mortality threats, with "ambient particulate matter pollution" as the largest air pollution risk." (Passing motor vehicle emissions)

"We've reached that transition point already in Los Angeles."

"...people are exposed to very high concentrations of volatile compounds indoors..."

"Indoor concentrations are often 10 times higher indoors than outdoors."

Stop using so much crap...

Support Tahoe to Whitney

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
