Major Planetary Breakdown Underway

Media Release
Nature’s Dangerous Decline ‘Unprecedented’; Species Extinction Rates ‘Accelerating,’
IPBES, May 4, 2019.

Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)

"All States Members of the United Nations are eligible for IPBES membership, with a large number of NGOs, organisations, conventions and civil society groupings participating in the formal IPBES process as observers."

Vast Rapid Changes
"Nature is declining globally at rates unprecedented in human history — and the rate of species extinctions is accelerating, with grave impacts on people around the world now likely..."

"The Report finds that around 1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction, many within decades, more than ever before in human history."

Specific Damages
"The average abundance of native species in most major land-based habitats has fallen by at least 20%, mostly since 1900. More than 40% of amphibian species, almost 33% of reefforming corals and more than a third of all marine mammals are threatened. The picture is less clear for insect species, but available evidence supports a tentative estimate of 10% being threatened. At least 680 vertebrate species had been driven to extinction since the 16th century and more than 9% of all domesticated breeds of mammals used for food and agriculture had become extinct by 2016, with at least 1,000 more breeds still threatened."

System Crash
“Ecosystems, species, wild populations, local varieties and breeds of domesticated plants and animals are shrinking, deteriorating or vanishing. The essential, interconnected web of life on Earth is getting smaller and increasingly frayed.”

Greedy Idiots
Our Corporate, "leaders,"  "led," Us to This Point
“This loss is a direct result of human activity and constitutes a direct threat to human well-being in all regions of the world.”

Key Stats from Report

"8 million: total estimated number of animal and plant species on Earth (including 5.5 million insect species)"

"75%: terrestrial environment “severely altered” to date by human actions (marine environments 66%)"

"15%: increase in global per capita consumption of materials since 1980"

">85%: of wetlands present in 1700 had been lost by 2000 – loss of wetlands is currently three times faster, in percentage terms, than forest loss."

"Up to 1 million: species threatened with extinction, many within decades"

"25%: average proportion of species threatened with extinction across terrestrial, freshwater and marine vertebrate, invertebrate and plant groups that have been studied in sufficient detail"

"+/-10%: tentative estimate of proportion of insect species threatened with extinction"

">20%: decline in average abundance of native species in most major terrestrial biomes, mostly since 1900
+/-560 (+/-10%): domesticated breeds of mammals were extinct by 2016, with at least 1,000 more threatened"

"70%: increase since 1970 in numbers of invasive alien species across 21 countries with detailed records"

"30%: reduction in global terrestrial habitat integrity caused by habitat loss and deterioration"

"47%: proportion of terrestrial flightless mammals and 23% of threatened birds whose distributions may have been negatively impacted by climate change already"

">6: species of ungulate (hoofed mammals) would likely be extinct or surviving only in captivity today without conservation measures"

The report contains many more grim facts about the current rapidly degrading status of our climate and ecosystems, and the very grim future prospects presented by our greed and corruption driven ecological decline.

Bottom LIne

Biggest Ever
The current level of significant damages we've done to our planet are caused by the consequences of our previous decades of extremely irresponsible behaviors, centered primairly on, "globalism," which is the movement of our middle class manufacturing to countries with no pollution control or basic rights, and the mass migrations of millions and millions of potential very low wage, "consumers," to the world's corporate states..
The extent and scale of humans is currently at the largest and most damaging magnitude ever, as our corporate leadership pushes to continue their vast expansions of, "consumer," populations, filthy production, and gross over-consumption they've already used to drain our planet and its peoples of their spirit, ethics, and material wealth.

Greed is not an, "ethic." I state this for the millions of confused people out there who believe that cheating to feed their material desires is, somehow, "ethical." It is not, and this greed is at the root of the forces that've destroyed our planet's climate & ecosystems.

Restraints Required
We have a set of, "indiginious," ethics available to us citizens, if we choose to finally take them seriously, and deploy the restraints on greed and power written into our Constitution & Bill of Rights. Unless greed has totally destroyed our ethical legasy, as it is destroying our natural legasy?

Lost in 1880s
We Americans lost the ethical battle first, in the 1880s, before the forces of greed controlled by our emergent corporate elite were able to fully unleash themselves on nature, and our corporate leaders were able to effectively control and drain our natural and human resources and wealth.

Now we are faced with a battle between the very different ethics of our two sets of, "National Forefathers," being the ethics and restraints of our Revolutionary Forefathers of the Revolution against our second set of, "forefathers," composed of the Robber Barons of the 1880s who put aside the popular rule mandated by our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and replaced it with their own corporate bribery controlled government, run by the industrial elite they engendered.

Not much has changed politically since then...

The descendents of the Robber Barons and their subservient corporate elite have ruled the United States since that time, who quickly, "led," us into the establishment and pursuit of a criminal empire fed by wars and tyrants around the whole frigging world, all to feed their greedy desires and lust for power.

That's exactly what our first forefathers were worried about, and wrote a Constitution and Bill of Rights to prevent...

Why be, "good?" Because, as every culture since the beginning of time has known, or found out through experience, that if you don't be, "good," Mom is going to come and wack the dickens out of you...

Mom would be Mother Nature...

Locked In
Our corporate masters have to continue growing their ongoing environmental destruction, as their wealth, power, and position all depend on continuing their, "endless growth," scam.

Paying the Piper
The consequences of these behaviors on our whole planet's climate and weather are consolidating towards a point of a generalized, interlocked global weather, climate, and ecosystem collapse.
