Why this is Important

The warming Arctic affects the Cycle of Ice, both of which affect the Seasonal Cycle of Arctic Weather. A warm Arctic Winter deeply disturbs the timing and character of all the seasons in the High Sierra, as well as around all the quadrants of Northern-Hemispheric weather wrapping themselves around the Arctic. Changing the Arctic Weather changes each of them individually, and how they all operate chained together, as it were.

Why the Arctic is Important to N Hemisphere Weather

The interrelationships between Arctic Ice, Arctic Weather, and the character of seasons and the timing of their transitions across the West Coast of the US, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains specifically, as important as they are, the Arctic only represents "half" of the factors controlling Weather across the West Coast of the USA and the Sierra Nevada. The other Major Force controlling the “other half” of our weather is the immense and rapidly growing power of the expanding band of Equatorial Heat pushing the power of tropical air hundreds of miles North of its traditional temperate limits. Those limits look like they've been shattered, and the pace of the changes, of the Northward march of tropical influences, are increasing.

A whole new weather pattern has already evolved in the Northeast Pacific Ocean between the weakening cold of the Arctic and the expanding power and influence of Equatorial Heat. The Cold North has lost control of Winter weather in the Northeast Pac that it used-to exercise.
Now the forces of Equatorial Heat predominate in determining the character and trajectory of the seasons in the Western US, as well as the Northeastern Pacific. It is a very different character of weather, and the differences are increasing rapidly to the point of obvious radical change.

Support Tahoe to Whitney

The Tahoe to Whitney Trail Guide and Magazine are walked, written, funded, and supported by my efforts, with the help of kindred spirits and my sister.

We offer valuable Trail Guide, Skills, Weather, News and Analysis.

My goal is to get you out to see your natural and social potential. Help me keep this unique resource accessible and expanding towards its potential. We've a lot of miles to cover ahead...

I NEED HELP!
If you feel these efforts are valuable, I'm cordially inviting you to support them, here:

I am currently working towards publishing the completed guide between Tahoe & Yosemite as an e-book, while converting this "blog" to a fine magazine format. You will like the results! Help Tahoe to Whitney reach its potential!
