PCT FATALITY

MISSING PCT HIKER'S BODY FOUND IN KINGS RIVER,
Kaweah Commonwealth, July 29, 2017.

The article seems to be mistaking Woods Creek for the South Kings. Woods Creek merges into the South Kings a few miles and 1400 feet of elevation below where the route of the JMT-PCT Crosses Woods Creek, at the damaged "Woods Crossing" suspension bridge.

That bridge is at 8492 feet while the junction of Woods Creek and the South Kings are at around 7000 feet of elevation.

If the information about the deceased hiker moving from Rae Lakes to their 10,000 foot body recovery point are correct, the PCT hikers appear to be attempting to cross much further up Woods Creek, where flows would be lower.

So, the accident occured on Woods Creek, not the South Kings, and it occured far above the standard fording point at Woods Crossing.

CORRECTION
7-1-17
Sarah Elliott of the Kaweah Commonwealth was kind enough to correct my
mis-interpretations, above:
"The South Fork-Kings River crossing where the hiker drowned is between Mather and Pinchot passes..."

I was assuming that the accident happened at, or avoiding, the damaged Woods Crossing suspension bridge. I was wrong on both counts. First, the Woods Crossing damage was apparently misreported (above), so the accident happened North of Pinchot Pass, rather than South of it, which is what I pictured.

10,000 feet of elevation on the JMT along Woods Creek, the body recovery point, is located just below Twin Lakes:

Tropical Power Marching North

A unique configuration of factors has formed up a "storm generation machine" (below) in the waters off of Central America for the past couple of weeks. A line of storms aimed at Hawaii have been deflected, swatted by the powerful, persistant High covering the NE Pacific.

Now these storms are marching far enough North that their massive moisture plumes could be swept East across the Sierra during the next weeks.

This means that the chances of tropical thunderstorms and downpours are increasing.

FIRE & SMOKE HAZARDS

Fire is the favorite handmaiden of change that this type of irresponsible growth ushers in, once the floods clear. Our bad behavior has ushered in an era of rolling climate extremes, rolling from drought to flood to heat wave, and back through the cycle again, and faster each time through.

“Overwhelmingly Negative”

Climate change expected to increase premature deaths from air pollution,
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL, July 31, 2017.

"Our finding that most models show a likely increase in deaths is the clearest signal yet that climate change will be detrimental to air quality and health,"

I'd say "death" is a clear signal...

"In addition to exacerbating air pollution-related deaths, climate change is expected to affect health through changes in heat stress, access to clean water and food, severe storms and the spread of infectious diseases."

All are already happening, and accelerating and expanding.

The only way to stop this is to stop the Corporate Growth Machine of Death... which means the only real way to confront our ongoing destruction of our ecology is through ending corporate/billionaire control of politics.

Humans vs. Big Volcano

10, 000 year Mass Extinctions are "Slow:"
Another improvement on Nature by humans

Geologist offers new clues to cause of world's greatest extinction,
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY, , July 31, 2017.

"(natural) Mass extinction can take 10,000 years or less--the blink of an eye, by geological standards--but its effects on the evolutionary trajectory of life are still observable today."

Until the rise of humans... now we humans can and will get the job of mass extinction, that took a volcano 10,000 years, done in well under a few centuries.

Is the value of humans in Nature, despite all our hubris and self-celebration, when measured at the end of our reign over Nature, to have no more of an effect than a vast, ancient volcanic "fart" that almost killed all life on Earth?

The answer at this point in time is clearly, "yes," unless we rapidly change the trajectory of our civilization.

THE DROUGHT NEVER ENDED
You heard it here first

Our new super hot regional weather pattern, our "drought," never ended. I suspect the strange weather we have just seen and experienced this last Winter is another new aspect of our new weather pattern: The "Tropical Winter." We just experienced a record-setting wet Winter that was drawn and swept North from the tropics by our new & emerging weather pattern.

This last Winter was a symptom of our new, hot, dry, drought-blighted environment on the West Coast of the US of A, not its end.

We have now resumed the line of our long-term warming trend where it left off before this last Tropical Winter.

The heat and abberent weather patterns of the drought never actually ended during the Winter of 16-17, they merely shifted the storm track South, sweeping far enough South to transport vast amounts of warm tropical moisture Northward.
That "tropical Winter" phase of our new regional "drought pattern" has ended, and the excessive heat and Drought conditions characterizing our new climate on the West Coast of the USA have now RESUMED, with record-setting temps and drought conditions already strongly establishing themselves from the Southwest of the US all the way up to Seattle.

The odds of us getting another warm "Tropical Winter" next Winter are very, very, low. I'd say they are about as low as our odds of experiencing a "normal," cold, wet Winter coming out of the Northwest.
If I am correct we will face worse drought conditions next Spring as we did during the last six Drought Springs. It will be almost as if this Tropical Winter never happened. It's the New Normal.

Santana has the best advice for dealing with self-created problems, such as ours,
"You've got to change your evil ways..."

State Subsidized
FIELDS OF POVERTY and POLLUTION
corruption & crime

Unlikely Allies Push Bill to Solve California Drinking Water Crisis,
Water Deeply, July 27, 2017.

The subsidized poverty of these state-subsidized dirt-cheap illegal field laborers perpetuates this irresponsible over-development of agriculture, which is what put and is still putting these heavy metals and pesticides into the ground in the first place.

Deport these people, close down the over-expanded and over-used agricultural Fields of Poverty and Pollution in the Valley that created, sustain, and make very profitable this state-subsidized poverty and pollution in the first place. We really do have to end this problem by ending this problem at its source, not its endless symptoms.

We have to get back under our lines of rational sustainability in every aspect of life. Continuing to subsidize immoral, if not criminal profits, is not any rational person’s goal. It is the goal of the greedy. This greed and cheating has stripped man and nature bare.

Save our Environment? This shit needs to end.

The Poverty Machine
Corporate Growth Machine of Death

‘Trying to breathe’—as CA toasts environmental win, pollution still plagues,
Calmatters, July 27, 2017.

Massive irresponsible domestic growth and offshoring constitutes the biggest asset-stripping scam of our lifetimes. This growth drives all our other ecological and economic problems, and this growth is in turn driven by the greed and corruption controlling our society & polity. These Dems are as fully purchased by the corporates as are the Repugs.

Their solutions and mitigations are worthless in the face of the endless growth they advance. Ironically, they are fighting against the poverty and pollution that their growth policies created and perpetuates. Plus, it "trades" citizenship for the ever-expanding votes necessary to keep this vast human ponzi scheme going. That's "job security."

Until it's not.

The next step: Ascertain how the "rules" governing sub-atomic particle behaviors are the fundamental "beachheads" establishing, "complexity potential," the framework of the first physical expression of "atomic" reality.

We will see the pattern of the "end" in these "initial" patterns of the beginning, once we can look close enough to see them. We will see the unfolding of rules at the beginning of time and space will be mirrored by the process of their collapse at the end of time and space.

Oroville Dam
Layers of Deception & Secrecy
How Deep?

Speculation about Oroville Dam’s ‘green spot’ grows,
Chico ER, July 25, 2017.

There is no speculation. The situation is very clear.

The green spot represents the bribery that's compromised our polity, and Oroville Dam.

Political corruption, deception, and secrecy has compromised Oroville Dam from inception through upkeep and maintenance, which directly created the spillway disaster, and maybe even a greater disaster. But we don’t know, as our corrupted political system continues to put out layers of deception and secrecy to obscure the true nature of our situation, and reveal how their corruption got us into this pathetic position.

Oroville is a “secret”

Our politicians have been bribed into submission…

Bribed Tools

There is no way we can trust anything this government says until it is not subjegated by obscene amounts of corporate bribes. When that happens we will finally be able to see that our corporate traitors have made us build, fund, and maintain their own infrastructure of power and profit at the least possible cost to their profits and power.

They have asset-stripped us, using our own wealth to fund and accomplish the task.

Not according to the corporate press!

According to the "Free Press," this system of corporate bribery and corruption that runs us, and signs their paychecks, is just, "business as usual." No problem here, move along...

The Corporate Growth Machine of Death

The drought is over. Why are Republicans in Congress fighting for more water for farmers?
Sac Bee, July 20, 2017.

Because the Repugs are leading in expanding all forms of production, as the Dems have flowed in millions and millions of illegals to break wages while expanding all forms of consumption. That irresponsible growth and development has already happened, and has already sucked the Valley and California dry. That's real teamwork.

Between Jerry's Tunnels and the unrestricted water extraction of the Repugs, we will go forward with pushing 20 million more "consumers" into Calfornia's developing deserts over the next thirty years.

Well, that's the Dem-Repug plan. It won't work, but they will do everything to push this asset-stripping of man and Nature as far as they can.

"Specifically, two important types of organic contaminants were found: endocrine disrupting chemicals (nonylphenol ethoxylates) and carcinogens (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)."

Endrocrine Disruptors

Recent Regulatory Debacles

Bottom Line
These bribed politicians will allow the Oil Industry to poison us and the land, the Nuke industry to irradiate us, Public Utilities (PGE) to blow us up while robbing us blind, the chemical industry to poison us, and the banking industry to loot us, all for the bribes, popularity, and power that corporate corruption brings them.

These are the industries that bribe and control our politicians and political process.

Corporate rule of politics is a serious form of evil. Breaking this illicit bond between corporate greed and politics is the only way we are going to save our environment, if not our honor. Living with this corruption taints the very nature of our souls. Serving greed dooms all three.
The simple fact remains that there is no way in hell we are going to slow the destruction of our environment under the current corporate regime in power.

The corporate "environmentalism" crap they are selling is death to the body and soul of both Man and Nature.

Whole Forest Preservation

Conserve intact forest landscapes to maximize biodiversity, reduce extinction risk,
OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY, July 19, 2017.

Hilarious. Corporate academic elite discuss how to preserve what the most fundamental working of their own social-economic system destroys, without realizing the contradiction voids all their considerations. Simply stated, the "machete" of global development must be removed from the hand of man, not guided to less destructive cuts.

The salient fact is that global development has upended the whole planet's progression and character of weather and therefore, fertility. Choosing which dies last has little effect. I guess they mean well, despite their irrelevance.

To be either relevant and effective, these scientists must realise that their target for forest preservation must be the Corporate Growth Machine of Death. That is the driver of forest exploitation around the world, along with the governments they bribe for access to these resources.

Deciding where to spend their corporate grant money (bribes?) as their corporations strip the planet seems quite delusive.

Ya Think? We Already Know This...

Focus: Are wildfires worsening due to development, climate change and controversial forest management?
San Diego Union Tribune, July 7, 2017.

We have grown far beyond our our country’s first-world carrying capacity. Our state and country are dropping further and further into social, ecological, and economic squalor as our irresponsible growth continues in a declining ecology.

Fire is the favorite handmaiden of change that this type of irresponsible growth ushers in, once the floods clear. Our bad behavior has ushered in an era of rolling climate extremes, rolling from drought to flood to heat wave, and back through the cycle again, and faster each time through.

Fire and Smoke Awarness are fully required for Summer backpacking in our Brave New World.

Can the Valley handle more cow deaths in this heat?
Fresno Bee, July 7, 2017.

It's a good thing the definition of "Karma," recognizes all created futures are deserved futures. We only create what our actions bring into being, which brings exactly what we deserve. All that we do is at the same time its own reward and its own resolution. One is transitory.

It is scary when dead cows are the canaries of our coal mine.
