Relief Reservoir Campsites

Relief Reservoir has an Excellent set of campsites on its Southeast Corner.

This page is set up for you to add information about the Relief Reservoir campsites. Or ask questions, share your experiences and impressions, or just wax poetic about what a stunningly relaxing place this is.

Use the comments link at the bottom of this page.

These campsites are a bit offset from the Tahoe to Yosemite Trail, but not far.

Unmarked, or maybe even ducked trails North and South of Grouse Creek bring us the short distance to the campsites on Relief Reservoir.

The Great Al Roundup, or "I'm not a cow."

I met Steve's three stock-seeking dogs before I met Steve. Funny Story.

The dogs thought I was a cow, and I thought the dogs were wild. When they came through the underbrush to "round me up" I was ready to do battle with dogs.

It started when I could hear three medium sized animals coming East up the forest and brush through one of Boulder Creek's little feeder creeks towards my Southbound position on the Pacific Crest Trail above the East Fork of the Carson River.

Starting a backpacking trip from Kennedy Meadows Pack Station on September 1, 2010. When the horses get a bit riled up, it's always good to get 'em out to run around a bit.  It always works for me.

July 21, 2010 Trip Plan: Walker to Kennedy Meadows, to Tuolumne Meadows

What follows is the trip plan that I am executing tomorrow. It is actually my safety report that I sent to a trusted individual who I will contact at my resupply point and at the end of the trip. If I do not report in a timely fashion, they will report this to the proper authorities.

This report includes route and time estimates for each leg of this two-part trip between Rodriquez Flat, on the Eastern Sierra Flank above the town of Walker Ca, on Hwy 395, to Tuolumne Meadows, in Yosemite National Park.

Looking South down at the Kennedy Canyon trail junction from the Southern Flank of Levitt Peak.

Southbound backpackers have the option of continuing South, over Big Sam into the Emigrant Basin. For backpackers continuing South to Tuolumne Meadows, you will cross the Emigrant Basin to enter Yosemite through Bond Pass, below which you will rejoin the Pacific Crest Trail in Jack Main Canyon. Let's check out the maps and trail guide.
