NEW PCT EMBLEMS
Take off your glasses-you can now find the PCT across Yosemite without them.
Yosemite National Park has installed HUGE new Pacific Crest Trail emblems on their trail sign posts, at least across the North Yosemite Backcountry, as my personal observations indicate.

Trail Guide Information
Little Yosemite Valley to Yosemite Valley along the John Muir Trail
This forum is to collect samples of the range of experiences of hikers up to Little Yosemite Valley from Happy Isles on the John Muir Trail.
And on the way down to Happy Isles, too. But, the climb out of Happy Isles is the first for hikers starting the John Muir Trail. This means we have lots of rookie and rusty backpackers beginning this epic voyage with this epic climb.
This splendid little segment of the John Muir Trail reveals what we have not been able to see hiking into the drainage of the Merced and its mighty canyon up until now: The Magnificant Merced Canyon itself.
Though its mighty gash has dominated the scene since dropping over Cathedral Pass, its steepness and deepness has prevented us from even getting a glimpse of even its actual rim, let alone its magnificant walls. That changes below Sunrise.
This is the forum for supplemental information for the section of the John Muir Trail hiking between Cathedral Lakes to Sunrise High Sierra Camp.
Trail changes, repairs, trip reports, updates, and so on.
This part of our hike between Happy Isles and Tuolumne Meadows offers some expansive views. There are great "vistas" in and around Yosemite Valley, but it's up here where we get big, expansive views of wide swaths of amazing terrain.
This is the place to record your pertinent experiences after hiking the 4.05 miles from Tuolumne Meadows to Cathedral Lakes, and your questions, comments, and possible concerns before putting foot on trail.
So, Post up your comments, questions, scouting reports, trail and trip updates for this segment of the John Muir Trail from Tuolumne Meadows to Lower Cathedral Lake through the comments link below.

This is the supplemental information, references, and comments page for the Muir Ranch to Whitney Portal section of the Tahoe to Whitney Trails.
In this same forum we will explore the loops and alternative routes along this section of the trail, such as the North-South and Rae Lakes Loops.
This forum and the South end of the guide below Tuolumne Meadows are under construction. The trails above are in draft form.
Miles and Elevations
This is the comments and basic information page for our Golden Triangle alternative route off the main crestline route of our Tahoe to Whitney backpacking trip. I want to hear how you weave in the more famous parts of Yosemite into your Tahoe to Whitney backpacking trip. Or, how you figured out the best way to hike a huge loop around the entirity of Yosemite National Park, which would be the next best thing.
Post up your updates and information about the Pacific Crest Trail between Kennedy Canyon and Dorothy Lake Pass through the comments link below.
Post up a stand-alone article in this forum with images, maps, and videos.

Carson Iceberg Wilderness
This report on backpacking loops and trips around the Carson Iceberg Wilderness comes from the Tahoe to Yosemite section of the Tahoe to Whitney trail guide at the Jenkins Canyon trail junction alongside Highland Creek above Spicer Meadow Reservoir.
Steve contacted me about the huge junipers he had encountered along a short but sweet backpacking trip down Noble Canyon in the Eastern Sierra.
This backpacking trip covers what I estimate and 6.5 miles starting at Ebbetts Pass down to the Silver Creek Campground located at the base of Noble Canyon where Highway 4 crosses the end of Noble Creek.
This is the page for backpacker's comments, questions, and scouting reports from the section of the Tahoe to Yosemite and Pacific Crest Trails backpacking from Glen Aulin to Tuolumne Meadow.
A comments link is located at the bottom of this page. Your impressions and experiences backpacking this section of trail will inform future hikers looking for information.
